Backstage: 12-18yrs. Autumn 24

A group for anyone wanting to learn more about all things related to backstage and technical theatre. With sessions ranging from lighting theatre to set design and everything in between. Members will explore key skills, techniques and approach to backstage theatre, and gain a better understanding of the backstage careers available to them. Practical sessions and hands-on tutorials led by industry professionals will enable members to explore their creativity in a fun and inclusive environment.

This term - we’re changing things up!

For the first 5 weeks of term the backstage group will get to choose between two strands – Technical Theatre and Design.

Technical theatre strand: Delve into designing and operating sound and lights for the stage. Enhance essential skills and explore your creativity when approaching a new piece of theatre from a technical perspective.

Design strand: Delve into set, costume and make-up design for the stage. Enhance essential skills, learn new techniques and explore your creativity when approaching a new piece of theatre.

For the remining weeks of the term each student will be paired with one of our performance groups and support their performance for the end of term shows in a technical or design capacity.
