CATHERINE WYN-ROGERS (mezzo soprano)

RICHARD HETHERINGTON (piano)

A Spiritual Life in Music

Leading mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers performs a selection of sacred songs inspired by her great, career-spanning affinity with spiritual music, notable in her multiple performances of Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.

Head of Music at the Royal Opera House, conductor and pianist Richard Hetherington is the Deborah Warner season’s Head of Music. Their programme includes Bach’s Ich habe genug, a solo cantata originally written for bass voice and notably performed and recorded by mezzo-sopranos Dame Janet Baker and Lorraine Hunt Lieberson.
