The piece is based on the relationship between Edward Hopper and his wife Josephine Nivison and the fictional character of Red who I have created, she is the female figure that appears in his paintings. It is a love triangle of sorts. It has feminist overtones as Red encourages Jo to break free, yet somehow she can't. It is a love story of sorts.

Each scene is based around a hopper painting, which the audience will see come to life. Jo has been the model for each, but it is Red who appears in each painting. The paintings take us from the 1920s to the 1960s. Through that time we see the despair of the wife as she disappears obliterated by the fame of her husband.

We see his blind intoxication with the art and Red the woman that he paints on the canvas. we see resentment between the women grow into support encouragement and kindness and we see a contemptuous relationship between Ed and Jo as they go through their marriage. The play asks questions about creativity and relationships
