Half-term Writing Challenge

Our writing challenge is back this October half term!

When we watch a play, we always think about the actors, and sometimes the directors, but every great play started off as an idea is someone’s mind.

This October half term we are bringing back our Writing Challenge sessions for another week of exploration, experimentation and exercises. Focussing specifically on the art of writing, and the complexities of storytelling, this week is for young people who have the desire to say something.

Participants will be led by a professional, award winning, writer/director, in a week that will challenge them to develop their ideas and creative vision and hone key skills including:

- Constructing structure, plot and narrative
- Creating and developing a character
- Finding your voice as a writer
- Creating dramatic action
- Writing affective dialogue

Writing Competition announcement:

In November 2024 we will be launching our first ever Playwriting competition, with the winning text produced and developed as part of the Theatre School Spring festival! More information to follow in September…

If you wish to submit a play to our competition, then our Writing Challenge week will be the perfect opportunity to develop your work in time for the competition.
