‘The thin line separating my being and the rainforest is beginning to blur.’

Trapped in the Peruvian rainforest, having survived a plane crash and a fall of 10,000 feet, seventeen-year-old Juliane is utterly alone and hopelessly lost. But she’s the daughter of two Amazon zoologists - she knows what to do.

Her Green Hell reimagines the true survival story of Juliane Koepcke in this odyssey of vivid storytelling with a captivating combination of physical theatre and puppetry. Interrogating our fractured relationship with nature, Juliane’s story reveals the strength of humility in the face of insurmountable danger and is as much about the rainforest’s struggle to survive, as it is Juliane’s.

First debuting at VAULT Festival, Her Green Hell transferred to a critically acclaimed run at Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe 2023, where it was longlisted for the BBC Popcorn New Writing Award, before its redevelopment with Theatre Royal Plymouth and for its national tour in 2024.

TheatreGoose are an award-winning collective led by writer and director Emma Howlett making bold new work rooted in a distinctive physical and visual style, and a love for telling gripping stories. Her Green Hell is their critically acclaimed debut show, which they followed with the sell-out hit Sisters Three, which recently debuted at Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2024.
