There was once a wide, windswept place, near nowhere and close to forgotten, that was filled with things that nobody wanted...
This gentle and timely dance theatre show for children and their grown-ups tells a story about resilience and friendship, whilst raising awareness about plastic in our oceans.
A touching story with hope at its heart, Plastic Paradiso is based on the children's book 'The Tin Forest'. Set on a barren, plastic-filled island, it tells the story of a lone inhabitant who befriends and helps an injured bird so it can fly again. The bird returns to the island with a seed to rewild the island and gives new meaning to their friendship.
Choreographer and performer Claire Benson is committed to the environment. Using recycled rubbish and through a series of beach clean ups, she has collected all the materials to build her set. Claire reimagines our household plastic as simple props using puppetry and dance.
