There is an old saying that the ‘pictures are better on the radio.’ This is your chance to put that to the test. During the workshops in this course, you will explore the techniques, discover the challenges and avoid the pitfalls of writing radio drama. Then, you will put your knowledge to the test by writing your own, short audio play that will be produced and recorded with actors from the Engage programme. Writers will start with the theme ‘Beginnings’.
Actors will receive a specific Acting for Microphone workshop and rehearsal and recording sessions.
The dramas will be featured in a special Play Back listening event on Monday 7 October in The Egg theatre
Join this project and explore the creative possibilities of performing ‘theatre of the mind.’
The course is led by Paul Dodgson, who has written and directed many plays for BBC Radio 4 and is the presenter of New Creatives Dramas on BBC Radio 4Extra.
Engage is kindly supported by the Beryl Billings Charitable Trust
