For the last year and a half Richard Ingham has been performing his poems to enthusiastic audiences at Roots and Records in Bath.
Now there is a chance for a larger audience to appreciate his work.
The poems are straightforward, accessible, full of telling images, gripping. The subjects range from a progression to Spring, a visit to a daffodil filled garden, travel, work fear and love; and the characters include Mrs Merganser, Tin Belly Cortez, the Dog Humphrey, Blue Collar Tabby Cat and a wayward, mother-upsetting duckling. These are poems that touch the challenges, pleasures and laughter of everyday life; there are happy poems, dd poems and reflective ones too; and there are occasional poems, often written to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
These are poems that lodge in the mind.
In the show, Richard links them with an account of the context and background of the work; and he clearly takes great pleasure in sharing them with the audience. This show will be a warm and illuminating experience.
