In 1838, a young woman is given a diary on her wedding day. Collecting snippets of fabric from a range of garments, she carefully annotates each one, creating a unique record of their lives.
Nearly 200 hundred years later, the diary fell into the hands of Kate Strasdin, a fashion historian and museum curator. Piece by piece she traces the fabrics’ journey from Lancashire to Singapore laying bare the whole of human experience through the clothes they chose to wear.
