Opera della Luna returns to Bath with its most colourful and popular production ever, The Mikado.
This astonishing and inventive company have achieved nationwide recognition for their innovative and energetic shows. As their production of HMS Pinafore last year proved, they remain faithful to the spirit of Gilbert and Sullivan whilst bringing a completely fresh feel to the work.
The Mikado’s sparklingly clever story has twists and turns in every scene, with some of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most familiar characters including the Lord High Executioner, Koko and Nanki-Poo. Translated to the zany world of modern fashion houses, with costumes inspired by Versace and Jean-Paul Gaultier, it promises a riot of gorgeous and bizarre creations with sequins, stunning gowns, glorious singing, and of course, the company’s inimitable brand of mad-cap humour!
The show is performed with Opera della Luna’s customary cast of multi-talented singers and actors and the company’s own live orchestral ensemble.
