Summer term dates: w/c 13th May – 13th July.
Throughout the term we will be exploring theatre’s relationship with environmentalism and its potential to address environmental and climatic challenges.
We will be asking:
• What is our responsibility to the world we live in?
• How can we use theatre as a tool for change?
• What impact can our creativity make on those around us?
Working with professional directors participants will be led through performance and acting workshops, devising and storytelling exercises and movement exploration.
Drawing on the innovation of such companies as Punchdrunk and the success of such plays as HadesTown, this term we will delve into the epic narratives of ancient Greek myths. Looking at interplay between good and evil, gods and mortals, the natural and man-made, and uncovering the roots of these stories in the natural world.
The group will approach these tales through different performance techniques including movement, character and sound, and devise a performance which will be presented as part of our end of term TRBTS building take over. A full day of performances, workshops and exhibitions all created and led by TRBTS members, inviting members of the public to hear our young people’s voice.
As ever, we believe that finances should not impact a young person’s ability to access the arts. Therefore, we offer bursaries for those who require financial support. Should you require a bursary, please email [email protected] for an application and to reserve your place while this is being processed.
