Dear Members,
When you join our 1805 Club, you are supporting our theatre and we promise to get you 'Closer to the Action'. There is no time and place where that promise is more emphatically fulfilled than at our Opening Night Afterparties! These regular events are all about bringing you closer than ever to the people working on our stages. But what are they? When do they happen? And who are they for? Dear reader, please read on...
What are they?
Opening Night Afterparties (formerly named First Night Drinks) is a post show event, which will usually take place in the 1805 Rooms. The events occur on the opening night of every new play that gets performed in our Main House and on selected performances in the Ustinov Studio. Please note that we do not regularly hold Opening Night Afterparties for large scale musicals or dance shows.
We hold around 30 of these events every year, usually on a Monday or Tuesday night, depending on the production.
How do they work?
At curtain down, please make your way back to the 1805 Rooms, either via the Royal Circle, or by leaving the Main House and re-entering through the 1805 entrance door on St John's Place.
A member of our Development team will be on hand to greet you at the bar and offer you a drink. Once members of the company have reset the stage and removed their costumes they can come and join you in the 1805 Rooms for a drink and some lively post-show discussion. This is the perfect time to ask the company about life in a touring theatre company or the cast about what the play text means to them.
Who are they for?
Opening Night Afterparties are an exclusive Associate membership benefit. You may be asked to show your 1805 Club membership card.
